It is well recognised that the wearing of copper bracelets is an effective treatment for the symptoms of Arthritis. In a 12 moth period a bracelet can release 100-150mg of copper. The amount absorbed through the skin can vary from person to person and hence contribute to variability in effectiveness of the treatment. To overcome this problem a copper complex was synthesised and mixed with a penetrating base of mucopolysaccharides (Mysol Cream). This approach allows the application of copper directly to the painful joint, thus reducing the risk of copper toxicity whilst still providing a therapeutic dose of copper. The effectiveness of copper in relieving arthritic pain was significantly improved. 
Heating ingredients have also been included in the mucopolysaccharides to improve localised blood flow to the tender joints on application. 

Why are copper complexes so effective in relieving Arthritic pain? Copper is an important co-factor in the  strengthening of elastic tissues. Copper deficiencies weaken the tissues which may result in slipped discs, poor healing of back injuries and rheumatoid type symptoms. Interestingly, solanaceous vegetables such as potato, capsicum, chilli and egg plant are known to cause copper deficiencies and these same foods are known to aggravate arthritic conditions. Copper plays a versatile role in promoting a number of enzymes such as Lysyl oxidase which helps cross link collagen and help strengthen tissue and Oxide Dismutase, which mop up free radicals and hence reduce inflammation and damage due to trauma in joints. Thus, tissues high in elastin, such as spinal disc should respond positively to copper complexes.
Camphor is a rubefacient and mild analgesic and eucalyptus oil is added as an antiseptic and counter irritant.
